01.45 hours (i.e. 1.45am)

I have been known to be absurdly singleminded when it comes to looking for things.

For the last couple of hours, I’ve been looking for those puny plastic mixing vessels to mix ink.

I’m very driven when it comes to looking for things. Sometimes I spend literally five or six hours straight looking around the premises for what might seem to others a wholly trivial object.

The longer I have to rummage, the angrier I get. My anger is vicious.

I don’t let up, and will not let up. Some people call mine a deathquest.

It f@#king well has to be a deathquest. If I knew the objects were there and now they’re not, I don’t know just why the hell it wasn’t a deathquest.

Anyone who can remain cool, calm and collected while looking for things past the first 20 minutes — well, they just aren’t looking. People like that just aren’t paying enough attention or just not caring enough to look.

  2. Rob mate, take a big breath. Everything’s gonna be alright.

Actually, I am a chef and I look for things for exactly seven seconds before I swear. If I have to look in more than one place then the swearing becomes continuous. After TWO MINUTES apprentices, waitresses and all but the stupidest dishwashers make themselves scarce. When I find out who moved the thing I was looking for I hang them on a meat hook somewhere- smoke four Marlboros and everything is better.

I feel your pain mate- never give up the swearing it keeps you young.
