The 28th of 12th

THIS is the day I’m into filth and other dirty stuff.
The Chinese New Year starts this weekend, and today (8 Feb) is the 28th day of the 12th lunar month (舊曆臘月二十八日 “old calendar 12th month 28th day’) — a traditional date for general housecleaning.
So I may be tangentially involved in porn (‘pr0n’), or the disposal thereof.
Housecleaning — Hah! Contradiction in terms in my case.
For a whole week I’ve been TRYING to clean up my digs, which looks like a legacy from the Year of the Pig Sty. Papers piled up everywhere. Clothes strewn across a wide(ish) area. The fridge smells interesting. My socks have become lost in the laundry. The chicks ain’t coming over because of the lost socks.
Not a very successful housecleaning effort because of various people ringing me up every five effing minutes, asking where are their proofs, why ink needs to dry after printing, and sundry other insanity.
Which also explains why I haven’t posted much these couple of days. (Mainly the pr0n, not so much the sensible work-related stuff.)
I think this Chinese year is going to be an odd one. Yesterday the temperature was jacked up to 25°C (77°F), and then it just fell, fell, fell last night right down to 16°C this morning. If you’re mildly superstitious like I am, this is not whatchamacallit a good sign.
By the way, if you work long enough with bankers, lawyers, accountants and especially high-tech types like computer people, you too can become a bit superstitious — mainly because of their antics rather than their beliefs.
Year of the Black Snake starts this Sunday:—
- Sun 10 Feb 2013 at 00.00 hours China Standard Time (‘Hotel’ timezone)
- Sun 09 Feb 2013 at 16.00 hours GMT (‘Zulu’)
- Sun 09 Feb 2013 at 11.00 hours Eastern Standard Time (‘Romeo’)
Can’t find a picture of a black snake, so here’s a substitute:—
It’s gonna be a year of winding us up…
And, no, they don’t taste like chicken at all.
And, yes, the snake is NAKED.
