Knitted poles and threadbare Daleks

8.46pm local time, 19°C (66°), cool and comfortable

WE too have our ching-chong chowmein Christmassy Daleks.

(Click in images for slightly larger sizes)

Threadbare Xmas Dalektrees photobombed by a creepy Santa Longlegs, smack dunk in the heavily built-up shopping/residential district of Causeway Bay.

By the way, Causeway Bay isn’t (and has never been) a bay, but once a giant version of a cove (a small type of coastal inlet, usually oval or circular in shape).

Closeup of the grumpy-shit Santa Flaws residing in the Christmassy Daleks. I’ve been told this picture of mine would make a nice computer wallpaper.

xmas street knit poles DSC1363 2013 1127

Santas in knitwear and deadpan facial expressions in the relatively more residential part of the same district. Shops lined the street on both sides. How excruciatingly Hong Kong-style ‘residential.’

I understand this and other streets are in fact private property with common right of way for the general public leased to the government. So the knitwear Santas presumably are the handiwork of the street landlords. Good one, that.

More tomorrow.

I still like the knitted pole covers, but the rest of it is visual clutter I would prefer to avoid.
