Shouldering responsibility

Tuesday 21 October 2014, 5.47pm HKT

4.24pm local time, 26°C (79°F), fine and sunny

THE real reason I’ve been playing truant on my blog for such a long time:

I’m injured.

Don’t know how, but the pain in my right shoulder really hurts. I can’t lift my arm up to chest level, so keyboarding isn’t a doable thing right now.

(Well, you get the idea.)

Fortunately, my left arm is still operable.

Oh, yes, just a quick explanation about the last post. It was (how to put it) an “accidental discharge” from pressing the wrong button. *sigh* (You get the idea.)

So glad you’re ‘back’! What could possibly be going with the right shoulder? What did the doctor tell you?

  2. I have had a similar problem Rob- perhaps it is the price of our maturity. Mine has been a frozen shoulder (adhesive encapsulitis) and I ended up having to have an MRI guided hydrodilation (it isn’t as painful as it sounds, only nearly so). Get it checked out mate- you might just need some cortisone in your bursa.
Hope that you’re feeling better soon- I miss your incisive wit in my inbox!!

My own version of right shoulder trouble is nothing like yours, piddling by comparison. Here’s hoping you figure something out and regain use of it.

Have you tried fish oil supplements?
Omega-3 fatty acids reduce inflammation, and it really worked for me when I banged up my right knee pretty badly.
The swelling hadn’t reduced much for a few days, and then I started taking the fish oil – and it was a very noticeable difference.

Your shoulder any better? You any higher up on the hospital waiting list? Why don’t you go to emergency? When I went to emergency, they saw me within 1-2 hours. How’s your chipped tooth? The ‘legal defence fund’ issue gone away yet?
