CAN’T say what’s cool in London today but we had cool things back in my day. Srsly cool.

Today we have our gadgets, the Internetto and stuff that only looks cool, but we had actual cool places to go to and cool things to actually do.

SOMEONE once told me:—

“When you’re in anger, you should sit down and start writing something. That usually calms a person down.”

I don’t think so.

Time of My Life: School in the Disco Era

6.33am local time, Fri 15 May 2015, air conditioner on (20°C, 68°F)

LET’S go into the Time Tunnel for a bit today.

At the Temple of Apollo (actually northwest London), we replied in our good old English tongue merely to convince ourselves that none of us could understand each other; but I noticed that when I smiled slightly on concluding, others did likewise. This fact, and the similar occurrences of our lives, made us unable to resist the temptation to leave. The crisp, freshly polluted air of the town air outside the cave acted as an immediate tonic, and I felt a new life and new courage coursing through me.

I’ll buy that for a dollar.

4am local time, 14°C (57°F), nice and cool and dry and wonderful

ANYONE who’s as old as I am will (or should) remember this line from the 1970s and ’80s:

“Happiness is a cigar called Hamlet.”

That was one of the best remembered British advertising campaigns on TV, radio, cinema, print and billboards. It was also the longest-running ad campaign in the UK and lasted until all tobacco advertising was banned on British TV in 1991.

9.20am local time, 29°C (84°F), super humid and pissing down

MY old man and I occasionally kept strange records to show where and how our bread and honey went.

While I’m still hacking Part 3 of my Elle Ess Dee story, I thought this might be interesting to some.
